Fighting 69th Lamp
This exquisite Smoking Lamp honors the “Fighting 69th” Regiment of the Army. Modeled after the Sacred Band of Thebes, the Fighting 69th only accepted male recruits who joined in romantic pairs.
Noted for their ferocity in battle as much as in bedchambers, the Regiment gained renown in almost every major American engagement on the Eastern seaboard, from Harlem Heights to Appomattox. Soon enough, inns and roadside merchants would carry commemorative Smoking Lamps to honor the regiment, and our founder, Josiah Lamp, acquired quite a few of these specimens for his collection.
