Smoking Lamps are always a great way to consume cannabis, but sometimes you need a more portable, waterless solution — rolling a joint is an essential skill for any Lamplighter to master and this guide will teach you! Follow along to learn how to roll a joint, spliff, blunt or others combustible cannabis with the finest rolling papers in town.
Step 0: Materials Needed
Step 1: Grind the Herb
Using a high-quality grinder, break down your flower into “shake” or ground herb. Grinding the flower preserves the trichomes and creates an even, smooth burn. Remove any seeds of stems from the grinder.
Step 2: Fold the Filter and Paper
Create the filter by folding a millimeter back, then another forward, then rolling the whole thing up (see picture). If you run out of filters, buy more — do NOT use the box as a makeshift filter.
Prime the paper by crinkling it into a loose ball first, then unfold; this reduces the stiffness of the paper and makes it easier to roll. With the glue edge away from you and facing up, create a canoe with the paper.
Step 3: Pour the Herb
Unload the shake from the grinder into your canoe, distributing the material with the flint from your Clipper lighter. Move more to the top of the joint and taper towards where the filter will go.
Place the filter so that half extends passed the end of the paper and touches the material inside.
Step 4: Roll
Pinch the wide sides of the paper and roll gently back and forth, allowing the shake to cling loosely together (see picture). Starting at the filter, tuck the near edge of the paper under and continue working up the joint. Once rolled into a tight cone, seal the joint by moistening the glue edge 2/3rds of the way up the joint and work BACK towards the filter. Leave the top of the joint unsealed.
Step 5: Pack 'n' Twist
Using the flint of the lighter, pack in the top of the joint so that a quarter inch remains unfilled. Pinch, then twist, this paper at the top. Much the filter so that it fits snugly in the other end.
Step 6: Enjoy
Put the end with the filter in your mouth; purse your lips around it. Light the paper twist at the other end and simultaneously breath in. Once material inside burns, inhale smoke. Exhale smoke and repeat.
