How a Carburetor Works

This decrease in pressure creates a vacuum effect, which pulls smoke out of the bowl and into the user’s lungs.

When the carburetor is covered, the flow of air is restricted, and the pressure within the bong increases, which stops the flow of smoke. This allows the user to inhale a fresh hit without having to clear the entire chamber.
