It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Thomas de Cretièn, also known as Old Tom, at the young age of fifteen. Born to landed gentry in the south of Wales, Old Tom came to America to participate in the Union Square Lamp Company’s internship program in NYC. Tragically, on his second day, Old Tom fell into a large vat of formaldehyde, and his body was forever preserved in the vat.

Although his time with us was brief, Old Tom’s memory will live on through the line of smoking lamps that have been crafted in his honor. These lamps, made of the finest materials and featuring a unique design, serve as a tribute to Old Tom’s life and his service to the company.

We take solace in knowing that Old Tom’s legacy will continue to be celebrated through these lamps and that his memory will be forever ingrained in the Union Square Lamp Company. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.
